Telegraph journalist Honest John has exposed a slippery dealer in Devon who took a scrap engine from an older car, put it in a 2007/57 Fiesta with 46,000m and sold it (with hand-written engine number on it) to a local customer. When the engine’s head gasket failed a few weeks later he denied all knowledge and the poor motorist had to pay a hefty bill to get back on the road.

Whether the dealer also put sawdust in the gearbox to keep it quiet is not recorded…… He’ll be seen in court fairly soon.
