About The Student Car Co.

Jonathan Pelly-Fry - Founder

Jonathan Pelly-Fry studied engineering at university before a career in numerous practical hands-on business ventures. He has covered over a million miles in cars, trucks and even a London double-decker bus in the course of his motoring life. With his wife Anna, he has taken part in many motorsport rallies at home and abroad. "We go places that aren't even on the map," describes his somewhat adventurous philosophy. He has bought, run and successfully sold over 40 vehicles prior to starting The Student Car Co.

Martin Taylor - Technician

Martin Taylor, owner of Benson Garage, is qualified as TEC Mech. Eng. He served in the Royal Navy as a Chief Petty Officer before joining his father John in the family garage business. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of cars, gained from a lifetime of breakdown recovery and good maintenance practice. RAF Benson crew are his largest customers and there's very little he doesn't know about sprockets and widgets.

Nick Pelly-Fry - Junior Partner

Our student-in-residence, Nick Pelly-Fry, is currently studying at Oxford Brookes University and was instrumental in setting up the company with his father, Jonathan. Whilst less technically knowledgeable, he makes up for this in charm and youthfulness! He has taken part in a rally to Prague through the Alps and takes a keen interest in cars, his first being a beautiful (!) 1998 Skoda Felicia, bought for £60.

Jane Pamenter - Office Administrator

Jane Pamenter is our immensely capable administrator and keeps us all in line, ruthless with her Excel spreadsheets and bookkeeping. She also mans the phones and will be glad to show you our stock. Her partner, Martin Mayer, provides our IT services and together they ensure the business remains in the 21st century.



Sales

Our policy is to assist you, but not to try and press you. The cars themselves are our best sales assets.

Buying

We strive to maintain really good supply lines of small cars from trusted local main dealers and we reject many cars that do not meet our standards. We do not attempt: Finance, insurance, purchased warranties, part exchanges (unless it's a car we would put into stock).
